First off, I've lurked this forum for a long time and you guys have saved me much headache & coin and I wanna say thanks.

I replaced the ECT sensor last week on my 01 SE and, when I screwed the new one in, the LIM cracked. LIM is about $350 from the stealership. I'm 'between jobs' right now so I need to do this as cheaply as i can. I have found many LIM'* at local junkyards but they all have a larger stovepipe than my manifold. I found several threads that mention a pipe that is turned down that is used to remedy the problem with the UIM failing because of heat from this pipe. My 1st question is can I replace the larger diameter pipe in one of these older LIM'* with the turned down pipe and, if so, where can I get the pipe by itself?

Also, I've read that I should use aluminum-framed LIM gaskets. Are these dealer-only parts? Does anyone have the part number cause my local GM house parts dept said they couldn't find any aluminum gaskets for that manifold.

And lastly, I also read that the UIM & TB gaskets are re-usable. What do I look for on the gasket to judge whether mine should be replaced or not?
