How to compress rear brake calipers?
The service manual states to use a spanner type wrench. But doesn't indicate what type. Looking at the many types available, it'* hard to dertermine which one to get and use.
Anyone have an idea what type/size to use? Or, some other method for compressing the rear brake caliper pistion? I've searched and found that a large pair of channel locks might be usable. Any ideas please? Thanks.

You dont really need to as you only need to press it in 1mm (I opened up the caliper swing arm first then pressed with a c-clamp, easier). The pita is the emergency brake cable, the slack adjusters are located under the lower rocker panels. Shoot them with pentrating oil and clean the threads before loosening.
The spanner thing they mention must be some special tool as the 'grip area' is like a figure 8? I used channel locks, they turn easily

Here'* the link for that tool. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...pecialty+Tools
Lisle Disc Brake Piston Tool
Sears item #00946344000 Mfr. model #28600
This tool rotates the piston back into the Caliper when replacing pads. Used on vehicles with 4 wheel disc brakes. Fits most domestic and some import applications.
I've used pliers to turn it back in also, but being a bit of a clutz, I just know sooner or later I would tear the boot that way. I bought it to protect my car from me. The cost is $12.
