Default Air condition compressor

I know its cold outside. My air condition compressor makes a high pitched noise when the air conditioner is off. Turn on the air and it goes away. Wondering if anyone here has seen this and knows of a solution other than replacing the compressor.

Sounds like the clutch is rubbing the pulley. Not sure of the fix for it. Someone should chime in.

Pick up the tool in the write up and it'* easy. The tool cost way less then going in and getting it done.
