I have a 2000 Bonneville SE with just a plain rear view mirror. I just bought an autodimming/onstar mirror off of eBay. The mirror was from a 2000 SSE. I don't have any OnStar in my car. However, I could care less about the OnStar buttons. I want to be able to wire the mirror so that I can just use the autodimming feature. There are nine(9) wires comming out of the mirror. I want to know which ones are for powering the mirror, the ones that just power the autodimming feature. I looked all over and found nothing. I don't want to test the mirror because I could blow it. I could really appreciate some help on this.

I'm in Snyder County, quite a bit far away from Indiana. Basically, I'm in the middle of nowhere. I know of no one in the area. Harrisburg is an hour away, as is Williamsport. I'm hoping on getting someone to reply to this who successfully completed this task before. But, I'm willing to take any help I can get.

Let me just set the record straight for everyone reading this. I'm just trying to find out what wires (of the wires coming FROM the mirror) will power the mirror and the mirror'* autodimming feature. I'm not trying to find out what wires, in the car, to connect the mirror to. I can easily run ground and positive and/or ignition wires to the mirror. I just need to know what wires, on the mirror, I need to have connected in order to have power. The mirror is out of a 2000 Bonneville SSE, the same year as my Bonneville SE.

Youi should be able to get the mirror working with the help of this schematic. Just ignore the onstar connections.

Thanks. I'll give it a try when I get home from work. The wire colors are basically there. I guess I'll hook up the Light Green and Brown wires to a hot source and the Black w/ White Stripe wire to a ground and see how it goes.

Thanks man! The mirror works great! I really appreciate the help. I just hooked up the Light Green wire to a constant power source, the Brown wire to an ignition power source, and the Black w/ White Stripe wire to a ground and it works. I also hooked up the Light Green w/ Black Stripe to a dimmer wire. Now all the buttons light up when the parking lights come on. Thanks again!!!
