This is a debated topic on the forum. Some suggest you need one, some don't.
Personally for 00+, unless your driving up a lot of hills or towing stuff, it'* my opinion you dont need one. It just introduces another few points of failure for leakage and trust me youd rather run a little warm then low on fluid.

Well, it'* a good thing I read this when I did. It'* a beautiful day outside right now and I just came inside from washing my bonnie up all nice.
I was about to run down to either Autozone or Advanced and pick up a tranny cooler for it...but first I thought I'd read through my e-mails and browse the boards a bit while my pant legs dry off...lol
I have a tranny cooler on my truck ('97 Ram 4x4) and ALWAYS ran one on my old '94 Intrepid. But those damn Intrepids are known for their HORRIBLE transmission designs and an aux cooler makes them last A LOT longer than without one!
Anyway, thanks for the heads up and I'll maybe picking up a 180* tstat instead!
