Default It wasn't the fuel sensor at all....

A month or so I wrote on this board because my fuel sensor appeared to just have stopped working. I got some messages that this happens sometimes and that it is costly to repair.

When the gauge first stopped working, I was traveling and had stopped for gas in my father'* hometown. Just as a topic of discussion several weeks later, I happened to mention to him that my gauge had stopped working. His immediate reply was "Bad Gas!" I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. Part of our state had gotten a batch of bad gas from a refinery (or wherever gas comes from) and whatever was in the gas disabled the fuel sensors. It affected many vehicles and the company apparently was repairing the vehicles as the owners came forward.

My father told me that usually 4 tanks of gas cleaned out the sensor and then it should start working (hopefully). Well, he was right! My sensor now is fully functional and I'm so glad I didn't pay to have it repaired!

Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks for replying back Lisa. Its good for all us to know what the actual cause was and how it was repaired.
Sometimes its hard to trouble shoot an issue on the internet and we all learn from each others experience.
