2003 SSEi Trans dipstick out all the time
Lately, since I did my tranny fluid change some 8K miles ago, I keep noticing the transmission dipstick up/open just enough to where you can see down the tube.
This morning I was looking after a big trip, and it was popped up again. There is a transmission shift cable along with a rubber protector slighly rubbing against the black dipstick handle and pushing it up when the engine rocked around.. I relocated that shift cable to the LEFT side of the dipstick and hopefully that fixed it. I Bet this got rearranged when the dealer did the warranty lower intake seal many years ago. Now I wonder what damage this has done? Does the tranny suck any air down that tube? I stuck my finger down the tube and didn't pick up any dirt, but still.. ARGH! |
It should be fine. The tube may have been bent a little and was rubbing on that cable. You can just push it a little to move it back. Just be gentle.
