2001 SSEi Automatic Climate Control - Blower Control Module
 

I have a 2001 SSEi with about 70k on the clock and the A/C blower motor suddenly stopped responding. As in shut off the car to get some fuel and when I restarted the system refuses to blow with any setting.

I can get a trickle of cold air out of the vents when I select "Outside" and I assume the air is coming in due to a pressure difference from the outside to the cabin.

I have checked the service info and ran a quick test with a TechII and the blower refuses to respond to 100% command from the BCM. I am curious if any of you have had to service the Blower Control Module?

The AC-Delco number is 15-8745 and I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere. The local big Chevy dealer always has to order and the sucker is $100! Any ideas? I've tried NAPA for an alternative but no dice.

Before you buy a bcm be sure it is the problem (you will need a wiring dia for this). Check the blower itself to see if it is getting power. if not check the fuse for the blower, then the resistor pack then the relay then the outputs of the bcm that control the relay.
Basically it is usually fastest to start with the component that is not working and trace back in the power supply circiut untill you find where the power stops and then you will have found the problem. If the bcm is not putting a signal to the relay then make sure it is recieving a signal from the switch.(the tech ii should have forced the switch signal). Hope this is helpfull.

Feed 12V to the fan directly. If it doesn't respond, replace the fan. If it does respond, it's likely to be your BCM. Assuming it's controlled the way 92-99 is anyway.

USUALLY an intermittent fan or a fan that works only on some settings is the BCM. The Fan non-responsive is TYPICALLY the fan, but checking for power then force-feeding it 12V for simulated High-speed are critical troubleshooting steps.
