Default 2003 SSei - Front motor mount bad?

I have 78000 miles and trying to decide if in fact, my front motor mount is ready for replacement.. Seen Youtube videos where the motor raises up huge amounts in drive holding the brake, and I don't see that. My symptoms are when it shifts gears; instead of a single bump for the shift it seems like I feel the motor bouncing around under load.. Hard to explain..

If I stand in front of the car (engine off in park) and firmly push the car backwards using my legs (make the motor rock back and forth), the bottom of the front motor/trans mount rises up nearly 1 inch off that frame..

Do you think its ready to replace, or is it just "broke in" and leave it alone?

In drive holding the brake and giving it some gas the engine will raise up a noticeable amount for sure, but if just at idle it likely won't move at all.

If you can make that mount move nearly an inch though then it is definitely bad.

Sorry for the delay in writing.. I like to follow up with the solution after asking a question..

Replaced the front motor/tranny mount on the Bonneville.. Yep, it was broke.. Job was as easy as it gets..

Unbolt the bottom bolt on the mount. Jack engine up (block wood under oil pan) until it take pressure off the mount. Undo the 3 bolts holding the bracket to the block, replace mount, put it all back together.. Took like 20 minutes.

Since this car is now my daughters, I went with a Anchor mount from Amazon.. It was as big and looked just like the OEM mount.. Hey if it will go several years, thats OK. Its an easy fix. I'll update this thread of the Anchor brand has any issues.

Tip of the day.. If you wonder if your front mount is bad, park the car on level ground.. Open hood, and rock the car backwards with your knees.. If you see the engine lifting up anything over 3/4" staring down at that front mount. Its torn.

Thanks

Hello.. I just came across this posting. My 2000 SSEI has a brand new front mount and the engine still rocks quite a bit when you engage in drive or reverse. Engine rocks a good 3/4" up in down as the engine twist.

Would this fix be the pucks?

Thanks!

If you have a brand new front mount, check your side mounts.

Thanks for your response... I just did the "Puck" solid mount and my engine rock is Gone

No more clunks when engaging the gears.
