Default used seat heater

Hey guys, I started work on my in-op seat heaters today and found that at least in my passenger seat, there is one of the elements that has gone bad. I found the burned looking spots in a circle around the element and the wire broken. The wires to it were ok. I am curious if anyone has tried to remove an element from an old seat and make it work in mine. I thought if I could get it out in one piece I might be able to glue it in place of the old one.

On a second note, my driver'* side lower seat cushion has good ohms through all the elements. I am assuming that the problem must be in the back rest even though you guys say that the lower seat cushion is much more likely. How do I get the cover off of the back in one piece to find the problem?

On a completely seperate note, My fuel gauge is highly erratic and most of the time ends up on full even though it is not full. Will come down to approx. where it is suppossed to be and then quickly go back up. Any common problems to look for first or is this new?

better to just get a new one once they have been used they like to get stuck to the foam padding if you try to remove it you will damage the foam pad. best bet get a new one and lay the new one over the old one will work just fine

you can get just the element from the dealer? Thats awesome. from the other threads on here i thought i was going to have to buy an aftermarket unit to fix it. I dont want to have to do that unless I have to.

Sounds like you have a bad fuel sending unit. Take a look at this write up. https://www.gmforum.com/t281507/

Sorry, can't help you with the other questions.

on the back outsides of your seat you will see a zipper that allows you to get the leather off however you have side air bags in the side of the seats they are very touchy and can explode

Thanks for all the replys guys. You guys are awesome. I thought I was going to have to drop the tank to get to the sending unit. I was very happy to find out I was wrong. I am going to check the sending unit in the next couple days. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work. Does any body know which element normally fails on the back of the seat?

Isn't there actually three elements in the seat bottom? I was wondering how many actual elements are in the seat back?

if you are goin to attempt the heater fix on your own i would strongly recommend disconnecting the battery to avoid the bags going off
