2000+ SSEi Seatcovers

Do they make wool seat covers for the 2000+? I have some plush ones on my Vette and they are great in summer and keep the leather looking like new.

Tonight I bought a pair of very thick dark grey lambswool covers for my 2001. I was disappointed that the location of the seatbelt retractors screwed that idea up. I figured that one out in about 2 seconds. Really bummed me out. :( Any suggestions?

I have never been a fan of seat covers (unless you have a really ugly interior). Wait...you have leather, why would you want to cover it up? As far as keeping the leather looking great, there are many good products out there. I use the leather cleaning kit from a furniture store.

Remember, if you cover the seats, all you are doing is preserving them for the person who gets the car after you. You dont get to enjoy them.

Jay,

I know. I know. You are absolutely right. Guess I'm a little too anal about this car. Still driving my '92 SSE without covers. Leather is fairly decent for 12 years!

I'll get over it. I DO use leather conditioner about once per month.

the leather conditioner makes a HUGE difference in life of the leather. i clean/condition my leather close to once every 1-2 weeks in the summer, and try for at least 1x per month here in the winter. i have 176k on my car....i've had it for the page 76k......and the leather looks just as good as when i got the car.

zzzzzeke,

That is a great color Bonne you have there. Same as mine. I just turned 203,000 and my seats look much better than most. The passenger side looks new. My driver side is getting worn on the side bolster. The bolsters are HUGE on the SSE. You probably don't have near the wear pattern on your SE. Are those tinted fog lights or is that an illusion on your pic? Looks nice.

PS- Do you use spray or paste wax?

zzzzzeke 02-15-2004 01:00 AM

aftermarket driving lights (navigator cyber whites from walmart)

as for wax, i use the meguiars 3 phase system (cleaner, polish, wax)

<<as for wax, i use the meguiars 3 phase system (cleaner, polish, wax)>>

Are you talking body finish wax or seats? I was referring to the leather.

SSE and SE seats are the same, the SSE just moves in more places.

ahhhhhh for leather i use either armor all leather care, the meguiars cleaner/conditioner in one, or the 2 step cleaner/conditioner ZYMOL.

I have a detail company at my office and they do a great job. They buff the outside and clean the leather once a month. I also get my car washed with them 2 times a week. The car still looks like it did when I drove off the lot. Except the normal leather creases. 8)
