You mean the Series II upper intake manifold?

Yes, but its a newer car and the upper intake usually begins to fail at around 90-100 000 miles :?

No problemo, but it never hurts to stay ahead of the game, drop in your 180 T-stat on your moms new car ASAP, also the plastic Series II engine cover traps a lot of generated heat, either vent it or remove it completely

my girlfriends 2000 monte ss failed at 70k. we put the aftermarket one on instead of the gm. hopefully shes good for a while. the k motor seems to throw at least 1 by 100000

i know my dad has replaced them on buick and such at 50k

I have the 01 and the mechanic told me that 1/2 way through 01 they put a stronger version on the cars...but there is no way visually to know what one you have. Sounds like a load of crap to me...but I am hoping that GM has made some changes on the newer cars.

So far so good, but mine is still has few clicks on the clock.

Has anyone had cases of a failure in a 01?

Its probably a bit to early to tell for the 01 intakes. Give it a couple more years and the horror stories of ruined 3800'* may or hopefully may not roll in.

The intake manifold on the 92-94 Series I NA is plastic yet you never hear about Series I intake failures...hmmm, I guess the General learned its lesson
