Default 2000 SSEi hop ups

Hello fellow Bonneville fans,

I recently bought a 2000 SSEi to replace my 99 ram air Trans Am, due to needing a bigger car (recently married).
I would like some info on the smaller blower pully, best one to get and where, and what kind of horsepower improvement to expect. Also some suspension mod recomendations to stiffen handling.
Any other performance recomendations are appreciated.

Great to see such an excellent site dedicated to these awesome cars.

Welcome SSEi2000 I can't help you with neither but I do welcome you to this sight. I do know that in between '94-99 the SSEi'* came with the Computer Command Ride (CCR) and that you can stiien the suspension from "touring ride" to "perfomance ride" with a push of two buttons. I think they dicontinued that with the 2000 bonnies. I also know that you said you came out of a Trans Am and in a Bonneville SSEi. The suspension on that is pretty much stiif and probably doesn't seem like it since you came out of a staight up performance car, but that is the top of the line and has the most stiffest suspension in its class.

2000, try:

www.scperformance.com
www.pulleyboys.com

Both companies make an interchangeable quick-release for the Eaton M90 used on the 96-03 SSEi. Pulleyboys have a chart which shows the approx. gains. The next step down from stock is advertised to give 20-25hp, I think, but don't quote me!

Welcome to the forum!

But Bonneville'* dont exactly handle, I found out the limits of my car on one of the local mountain passes around here that doesn't have guard rails. I do have some battle scars from that night on the side of my car, but now I know how far she can go.

I wanted to say thanks for the comments, and info. Another member help me locate a new tail light to replace my chipped one for a mere $25.

Looks like my Christmas list will include the torque arms, and a slightly smaller than stock pulley (have not decided what I can get away with yet for everyday use on pump gas). Any comments on this are welcome. I know some believe large cars don't handle well, but this one will eventually. New beefy shocks, and some Michelin Pilots are also on the list.

Regards,
Jon

Go with a 3.4" Pulley. I did and you won't regret it. You would be wise to switch to a 180 degree thermostat and add an auxillary transmission cooler. I fit my cooler easily between the bumper and the rad.

Curious about the thermostat...did you see any change in gas mileage on this piece?
Which 3.4" pulley did you go for?

Thanks, Earl
