Air Shocks
Would air shocks for the rear be ok on a 2000 newer bonnie with 19inch rims???

The size of the rim won't matter, unless that'* your reason for wanting air....to soften the ride?
ELC shocks and air shocks are totally different. Very different purposes.
ELC shocks are gas shocks with air ride height assist. Air shocks are simply that...air shocks. They have limited ride height control, limited damping and ride quality as compared to gas struts, but can be adjusted by air pressure for firmer or softer ride.

My car is not a 2000, but.... I run about 20 psi, 16-20 is about the norm for the ELC system... The more weight you add to the rear, the more the system will pressurize the shocks to keep the ride level.. I have riden and driven ELC equipped cars and My Air struts were a direct replacement for those ELC struts... But the ride is firmer even with 19-20 psi, than almost any ELC equipped car I have been in... A friend has Air shocks on his GA as he tows with it.... Even that car is very firm...
So I do agree, there are some pretty good diffrences... But keep in mind the ELC ultimately controls the ride heigth...
