2000 SE Factory Dual Exhaust Conversion

Decided to give dual exhaust a shot on my SE. I liked the factory look of the Bosal mufflers off of SLE's and SSEi's so I wanted to go that route. Finally located a complete exhaust system off a 2000 SSEi wreck with only 58K miles (thanks GTPMORAD!)

Cut off the main pipe and the duals bolted right up. I didn't care for the way the tips looked on an SE without the cutouts in the rear fascia so I hacked them off. Just my personal taste. I may add some on to extend them to the bumper but for now I am quite happy with the subtle look. Sound is exactly the same but maybe a little quieter.

Initially, the right muffler was hanging too high so I put a spacer in between the hangar and the frame. After taking the car on a 15 mile trip however, the hangers have settled and I believe I can take out the spacer. If you look closely, you can tell the right is hanging a little too low in the last pic.

Really fun and easy project if anybody wants to go duals on their SE.

So long single exhaust. I will not miss you.

Spacer on right hanger.

I cut three slits on each end of the coupler with a Dremel so it would snug down as tight as possible.

Weep holes at work!

Right's hanging a little low. Removing the spacer should even things out perfectly. ;)

 Did I miss something here :!:
What happened to Morad :?:

I don't believe anything happened to him. He had this system up for sale in the FOR SALE section.

From that thread it sure sounds like his car. He parted it out "after the accident".
Look how clean and unrusted the exhaust is.

I wonder what happened

I repainted the exhaust. It was nice and rusty! ;)

I'm confused: Is the system painted red from the same project? And did you buy the system used? If so, how much? Couldn't you have found the whole system up to the converter? Just asking :?: The is very encourging. I;ve wanted to do something like this but wanted more info as to the problems involved. Thanks! :P

The red is primer before the high heat flat black. They still had the tips on them at that point as well. I cut them off later. The system is used. I found it in the FOR SALE section on these forums. All I needed from the system was the y-pipe, mufflers and hangers and they had to be cut apart for shipping purposed. A friend welded them back together for me. Didn't need the converter, etc. Hope this answers your questions. You can buy a brand new system from GM but you do not want to know what they ask. It's insane. Several hundred dollars. You might contact 2000SilverBullet above. I think he got rid of his Bosals.

That is the best dual exhuast job on a 2000-2005 SE ever! And I mean it... Great tips by the way they suit it really well. Grandma's car is coming along well I take it? Uhh is it a colum of floor shift?
