Burning smell when shifting from D to 2
Hi fellow BC members!! I have a question for you and maybe someone has an answer. I was driving on the highway and doing around 80 mph when the guy in front of me decided to suddenly slow down therefore forcing me to apply my breaks and to downshift to low 2 avoiding a collision. After that I can smell a strong burning scent from the front of my car. The burning smell lasted about 30 seconds or so. Does this mean that my transmission is going or is it something else. Thanks for your help.

Most likely it was your brake pads smelling due to the extreme heat caused by slowing quickly from that speed.
Pay attention if you smell it again. However since it went away quickly, it is most likely not an issue.
