98 SE back in garage again
Hey guys I am back again,my 98 bonneville se that just had the coils, sparkplugs, wires and transmission filter changed is acting wierd. When the engine gets warm it stutters and then today I just lost power even with the pedal to the floor I was going 30mph.
It feels like the tranny is slipping but I think I have a bad tensioner.
I havent had a chance to get the codes off the check engine light yet. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like Limp home mode. Something is sending a code to the PCM that is making it resort to limp mode. Had similar problem with Olds98, that was the MAP sensor. that isnt to say that this is your problem though. Get the codes if possible and start there.
Good luck.
Good luck.

tranny
My bonne is not shifting into 3rd gear, they say it'* a bad sensor. I priced the sensor it is only $20.00.
Does anyone know if the sensor is internal or external?

if the trans is slipping...it will be at like 4,000rpm and the engine will sound like it is in neutal and you are not gaining power......
its possible the trans needed the friction material if it was high mileage and changing the fluid/filter caused the failure but that is an opinion only.

Yes my 98 has 114,000 and I just changed the filter, did that do more harm than good?
Yes it sounds like it'* in neural and I am not gaining powerat about 4,000 rpm,I can't remember what sensor went bad but I know it'* external and cost $18.00.

Well I am not sure what sensor you talk about ,but it possible changing the trannmission oil caused it. Could been the trannsmission need the extra friction to keep running. Other then double check the transmission fuild level. I would think it time to take shop that you trust for tranny work. Hopefully someones else chime in that nows more transmission. IT kind of sounds like your transmission dieng.
