Default worth it??

Hey everyone,

My sister and her husband have a 94 SSEi with ~150k on it. They have been having issues with the check engine light always coming on and it stalling out for the last few months. They had a new CPU and 2 new ignition modules put in and the code still shows it is having an ignition module error. Just recently, the supercharger started having some clunking. My question is, is it worth it if I could pick this up for like $500 or less??

I'm good with cars and do most of my work myself, if possible. After reading some on this forum, I'm hoping maybe I could find a wire shorting out or replace the crank sensor for the stalling. Also, maybe the supercharger problem is the coupler, which is a $50 fix and some time. Anyone know of where to get parts for the Eaton for this model if I needed to rebuild and not just put on the coupler??

Any advice or input on the problems is appreciated.

thanks!

Yes! I would take it in heartbeat. Definately worth it to buy, fix and use or sell for a profit. Either way take it. I know i would.

I think so. If you could retrieve the exact code we could help you figure out the problem a little better.

$500 is a STEAL. I would definately jump on that. I would bet the problem is something simple also. Like was already asked, what is the code(*) it is setting?

I'll ask my brother in law to call the dealership. I know they just had it in after trying to get the intermittant stalling fixed at Tuffy'* (I told him not to..not to..not to!!) Maybe he can call and see if they have record of the code reading. If not, I'll see if I can borrow it and take it to NAPA or Advanced and see if they can read it. Ebay doesn't have any Actron CP9110'* and cables right now.

Assuming I can get the stall issue right, I hope I don't need an entire */C. They can get a bit pricey!

If I can get this car, it will be my 2nd car, so I can have some fun with it. I'll probably try to do a few mods such as undersized */C pulley, flowmaster muffler, gut the air box. You know, try to have a little fun!!

Well, here is the deal. Basically, if I give them more than the dealer would on trade it'* mine. With the stall issue and */C messed up, I'm guessing the dealer wouldn't give them much for a 94 w/ 150K on it. The dealership told em it would be like $1200 just for the new */C without labor!! What do you guys think they'd get on trade??

thanks again!

The dealer will "pretend" to give them more money on trade when he is really just discounting the sticker price on the car, regardless of the trade. That may be a tough contest for you to win.
