Default ABS Module BAD!!

Hi Gang,

I recently experienced the dreaded ABS/Traction Control light syndrome.
They (dealer) scanned the ABS codes today and said I need a new control Module. Total price =$995 + tax. Does this sound right. They're saying $800+ just for part.
Does anyone know the GM part# and what other applications it might have been used on. Also any alternative sources where I might find this part!

Thanks again,
Mark

I see this part number in two different parts listing, One lists it as $1022, the other $773. Both list .7 hours to remove and replace. By your quote they want almost $260/hr to work on your car!

Are you talking about the PMV assembly or the EBCM? Both are expensive, and the PMV is a PITA to change. You can do it yourself, but sometimes another code may be lurking. Just don't expect to get it fixed the first time around.

1000-1200 bucks is typical for a PMV swap at dealer rates. Also rmember that the dealer charges you RETAIL for the price of the parts they put into your car. Not wholesale.

Sounds like the EBCM is what I need. Seems like a rather simple replace.
Does anyone know applications for this part

Call 1-800-338-4591, that'* my other store. Ask for Seth, they're showing that they have 2 and can ship them to ya. These are used parts but I haven't had any problems with these ever. Hope this helps you out. I work in a salvage yard here in MN and we got 2 stores.

Call the dealer back and confirm the failed part. I have yet to see a single EBCM fail. Doesn't mean yours hasn't, but just make sure. The EBCM is quite simple to change. It'* on the inside of the firewall, beneath the carpet, just to the right of the GO pedal. Very large electrical connector on the end of it.

The part is 94-95 Bonneville w/ TC only.

I'll confirm that. And technically, 94/95 refer to it as an EBTCM, where 92/93 call it an EBCM, even though it controls Traction for the 92/93 as well.
