Windshield plastic popped up

The wide plastic piece under the windshield has been creeping up over time on the driver's side, but now it's officially popped up. Any hope of reattaching it? Pushing down is difficult (due to the angle) and so far pointless.

Also, there seems to be a useless two wires underneath that ends in a flat plastic cap. I'm guessing it's something related to the HUD option that I don't have.

Actually, that looks like the sensor for the twilight sentinel.

Actually it is the sensor for the twilight sentinel.

Easy way to fix that would be to pick up some clips or dig out the old ones and reattach. If the panel has the tabs broken off...get a new one.

BTW GM didn't prewire things like HUDs in our years.

The twilight sensor is in the middle of the car. This one is right in front of the driver. That's what got me wondering.

Not that I was planning a HUD conversion. I saw what was needed to install it in a Regal and decided to leave it to the professionals. :thumbup2

It's actually much easier in a Bonne. The correct dash is available. :thumbup2

Ok, well there's two potential sensors in the dash. One is for twilight and the other is a solar sensor for the automatic HVAC if equipped.

The one on the left is the twilight and teh middle is the solar. I know cause I over rode teh twilight and I was messing with the left one.

Really? All these years I just thought the left one was a dumb piece of plastic, until I discovered wires the other day.

I had a similar problem on the other side of the dash when the air bag went off. You are right, due to the angle of the dash it is hard to get to. The clips that are supposed to hold it down on mine were broken. I used some clear silicone caulk to glue it back down. I cut a stick to go from the top of the windshield to hold it in place untill the silicone set up. I left the stick in place for a week to make sure the silicone was cured. That was two years ago and it is still holding fine.
