93 SSEI Code 56 & 43
Hey all,
My 93 SSEI w/ 76k miles on it is causing me some serious headache. The problem has been around for a bit and I've been trying to figure it out by replacing possible culprits. NOW the problem has either gotten worse is gaining friends.
Symptoms: Stumbles and all out lack of power under boost. Until recently was only giving check engine light code #56. A few days ago I lost a alt/ps belt and had to replace alt/battery. Now I've got a persistent code #43. Trying to figure out if the 2 are related or problems coincidence?
Items Replaced/Checked Out:
1) Replaced MAF
2) Replaced MAP
3) Replaced Boost Control Solenoid
4) Snout Rebuild
5) Replaced fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator
6) Vacuum Hose Job
7) New Coils
New plugs and wires
9) replaced upper and lower intake manifold gaskets (had a slight leak near #6 that leaked outward)
10) Cleaned IAT
So recap: code 56 and code 43 = headache

code 56 is low coolant (maybe the sending unit) or Fault in port throttle system vacuum sensor
and code 43 is the knock sensor or electronic spark control circuit fault
so there could be your problem! Maybe one of your new coils is bad! Check these first.
