Default Headliner Install

Alright so here is the story when i got the car didnt have a headliner in but 90% of pieces still attached and functional. So i went to junk yard couldnt figure out how to get the pieces to release so basically destroyed 50% of the parts there but got a nice shiny new headliner out of it. So i have a headliner that i need to install but dont have much wisdom on how to get the handles and mirror pieces off the car so i can put the headliner up on the roof. I tried a search for the walkthrus but couldnt what i was looking for. I found a great post on how to redo the cloth but not mount the headliner to the actual cieling.

The handles have push in tabs. Pull down on the handle and you should see them. Front handle has two tabs, rear have 3 (hanger holder thing is one of them.)

The mirrors...you mean the visors? There are screws in the main part of the visor.. remove them and the visor and part of the bracket out out. Then the other side is a push in tab that pulls out and a little wiggle..it'* out.

I think mine just might be fragile then Cause i started pushing the tabs in on the one and it started to crack. So guess time to make a trip to the junkyard.

To take Bill'* advice a step further...

You'll need to remove all of the pillar trim to get the headliner to drop down. The B-pillar trim (the middle pillars) require the floor trim along the doors to be removed for the easiest access. The a and c-pillar trim pops out with little white clips. Be prepared to replace some clips when reinstalling.

You'll need to remove the sunroof rubber trim piece. Simply pull it away from the joint and whalla, it'* removed. It will need to be removed in order to get the sunroof to drop.

The electrical connectors at the overhead console and at the sun visors will need to be unplugged before dropping the headliner.

The headliner is held in position in the rear with a fastner similar to Velcro. However, it'* more stout.

The headliner should now drop fairly easily.

When I removed mine I actually removed both front seats and the rear bench. Removing the front seats is as easy as removing the four nuts from each stud and unplugging electrically. The rear bench seat can be removed by pushing back and up on the bench. It will then be free of the center-opened hoop that captures the bottom of the bench.

AFTER all of that is done, the headliner should come out of the rear passenger door with a little bit of finagling.

Patience is virtue.
