Default Need help with programming a keyless remote

Hi, sorry for a new thread. I have searched and read many threads on this matter. Including the one in the "Electric" sub forum for the 96-99 years. I have a 99 SSEi and just bought a new/used remote off ebay. It has the exact code(*) as the one it came with when I bought used. That one works.

I have done the jumper in ports 4 and 8. It is my understanding that a fuse is not required and I haven't tried with a fuse yet. I also understand that when it is jumpered it should lock and unlock to notify it is going into programing mode. I do not get this...even when I turn the key to ON (not running).

I have tried 5 or so times to see if I am not getting the wires in properly. Still not working and I am at my wits end. I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with my 4 and 8 ports and/or my BCM?

Is there different instructions for the SSEi? I should note that my Security light remains ON when the car running.

Please help...Thank You!

Make sure you are on 4 and 8, and not 1 and 5. make sure drivers door is open, jump 4 and 8, the doors will lock and unlock, then close the door, then just follow the instructions. It should work.

I believe that the SSEi'* all have keyless entry as an option. However, take a look and make sure that you really do have a pin 8 — mine didn't. If you don't, we're in the same boat.

An "option" on the top model SSEi...odd.

I will have to look at the port again since it was getting dark last night when I was trying this. But if I recall, I do have pin 8 but no pin 4. Meaning there was a metal contact on 8, but not on 4.

It may also be that it is upside down as is the case in the other thread. But I don't believe so since at the bottom it has that little plastic piece sticking out.

Hmm, if it doesn't have pin 4 or 8. Would a dealer be able to program this remote?

Thanks

If the pin isn't installed, then he doesn't have the module correct?

I thought that if one of the pins was missing, then the car didn't have the keyless remote module?

I'm going to go take a picture of this port and then post so you can see what I am working with. So far I haven't had anything short out or start on fire with my jumper wire in there.

Be right back with a photo.

Ok, here is the photo, a bad one. But it shows the metal contacts in the pins. You are right, no pin #8.

So is this remote useless or can a dealer program it someway. The one I have works so there should be a way to pair them somehow.

Thanks
