Wheel bearing failure?
I'm hearing a lot of noise while driving. Granted my left wheel's upper mount bearing sticks and gives me memory steering so I know the wheels are fighting each other. However at around 40mph I can a loud humming noise coming from the car.
If I turn my wheel to the right it gets less. If I turn it to the left it stays about the same. Also when I turn my wheel to the right and the humming goes down I hear another noise. I'm thinking both wheel bearings should be replaced? I take it if i'm going to replace the wheel bearings then it would be a good idea to buy a new upper mount bearing and get my memory steering problem fixed to right? |
To check for Wheel bearing failure, Grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and try to move it. If it moves, then the wheel bearing is more than likely shot.

Spin the wheel in the air while holding onto the coil spring spring. If the bearing is bad, you will feel a grinding sensation in the spring. A bad wheel bearing wont always have side-to-side movement.
