Default tranny problems...its an ignition problem...FIXED w/pics

Well it start out that it would only happen in OD accelerating slowing from like 52+ the car would start to buck. That is the best way I have found to describe it.

Starting yesterday, upon a easy start but through the upper RPMs of first it felt like the tranny was slipping. (at which point the check engine light came on) Now, I realize that might be wrong. Reasons, I have noticed a power loss, which leads me to think that the hesitation and "slipping" is actually a misfire or similar.

the car also feels "jumpy" as my mom describes it, when sitting at a red light.

idk what to do...I don't know if its possible to pull codes since its OBD!! (w/o a scan tool)

its going in monday but it will have 200+ miles on it before then.

Go to autozone/advance and get the codes pulled, be sure to look at the codes on the reader write them down and post the codes. There are a few trans codes that could set the SES

P0300...random/intermitant missfire (possibily on multiple cylinders)

that was the only code...I guess I need to get those well overdue spark plugs changed asap.

Ignition control module is my best guess or a faulty coil pack

could it just be spark plugs with almost 92,000 miles on them?

Oh yeah, I'll chime in here. I developed a really heavy buck / banging climbing hills at 40+ mph in o/d and torque converter lockup. I was dead nuts convinced it was the transmission. I replaced the trans with a 30k mile unit for $400. The bucking still existed. I found out that I had installed new spark plug wires and plugs, coincidentally right around the time the bucking started. The plugs were bosch platinums (yuck!) AND i had not clipped the front 3 wires into the retainers properly. #1 plug wire was 100% directly touching the exhaust manifold, and it had a big discoloration and a soft spot on the silicone outer jacket. Replaced the plugs w/ autolites and wires, zero problems.

Oh well, I have a trans w/ less than half the miles the car has on it now, so that should last a while. I was throwing no check engine lights or stored codes either, by the way.

I fixed the problem!!!! YAY!!! I'm really proud of myself, I never realized how easy it would be to actually change spark plugs on a car. This was my first time and all. My dad hung around to "help" but w/e I made him the tool fetcher.

He actually debated my stating that the problem was probably the spark plug wires...I'm glad I proved him wrong Although he actually wants to get new wires in there, or atleast that was his mood tonight so that is a definate plus.

pictures of me doing the rear plugs...

I think these are the first pictures of me and some of the exterior of the Bonneville posted here on Bonneville club. I know I had some trunk pictures up.

EDIT: anyone know how to reset the check engine light w/o risking losing radio presets??
