Whats this for?

I found this harness just layin around in my console, I dont think its for power seats, the wires are too small, could this be an option for performance shift? or traction control?
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/thatsm...ce.jpg&.src=ph
also one other thing, will I be able to swap an my dial knob hvac to ecc by just plugin it in? I cant seem to find anything by searchin, so I thought I'd ask

NERV 04-30-2005 08:10 AM

how did you even get that piece off? i couldnt get it off the hinge, anyway i have power seats and that is def no the harness, and the TCS shift, and ride, switch are all on circuit board, my guess would be that cigarettes lighte ron the back of ur cetner console

MadSam 04-30-2005 09:18 AM

Is that for the switch for the power seats? you know..the switch to choose right seat..........left seat...............off ? maybe?

IamMrHart2u 04-30-2005 09:18 AM

I just pulled it right off, its definatly not the cig wire, its tucked under there at the bottom of the console, and its only 2 wires, this pigtail has like 5 wires in it, I am totally clueless as to what option that harness could have been for

IamMrHart2u 04-30-2005 09:24 AM

if it was for the power seats, wheres the rest of it? and would'nt the wires be of a thicker gauge? I havent noticed any wires hanging out onder the seats for any hook ups, and only my driver seat is power 8 way, not lumbar 16 way :?

opensourceguy 04-30-2005 09:28 AM

Isn't that the harness for the ride control or shift quality whatnot?

All you damn 92+ers with all your unknown wires and stuff.

umm thats what I'm trying to find out, I have just regular struts in it though  basically the car is just a base model, and I dont know anyone else locally with a bonneville that I can compare with  I know this much its driving me crazy knowing theres a harness there and I dont know what its for :?

banned3800 04-30-2005 11:07 AM

I tried to figure out what those wires were for too... No real luck tho... And I also have anoth unknown wire/connector next to the 5 wire one...

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...nies/wire4.jpg
The small connector has 4 wires and the larger has 8 wires...

MrHart, See if you can pull the wire out a little further, there may be another connector there somewhere..

the 8 wire is the TC and the Performance and the Normal Shift buttons....i think that the 4 4wire is the CCR
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...6_162_full.jpg

that is my plug that is part of the POD, and I have the TC as a option

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...6_160_full.jpg
here is the connection the top is leading to the pod and the botton is going to the car

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...6_161_full.jpg
this is my harness IN THE CAR. Looks like the harness connector that is in my car differs from the yours

banned3800 04-30-2005 12:08 PM

Hmmm Odd...

Not sure what to do now.... Maybe I need a 94-95 TC/ Perf Shift pod to toy with...lol

*scratching Head*

Wondering why the 95 has more wires... * Oops nevermind*...LOL

Thats the only connector, I have looked for another, I was thinking that there had to be other connectors if my assumtion was correct, by looking at pics of cars that had tc and perf shift, now that I know my assumtion is correct, I'll need to find a doner car w/ buttons, time to go junk yard hunting :D I love junk yards, I have looked in some cars when I went for something else the last time I went, but it was hard enough finding a 94+ and I didnt know that a 93 had the same connector, cause none of the engine and computer connectors seemed to be like 94 + man this is great!

IamMrHart2u 04-30-2005 02:35 PM

oh bye the way thanx for showing me this, honestly you didnt have to take your console apart on my account, I would have taken your word for it honestly :)

1993 SLE 04-30-2005 02:58 PM

well i think you might need a 94+ pod, because the connector that i have on my pod is the same as the connector in your car. I think that they switched it in 94

OLBlueEyesBonne 04-30-2005 03:29 PM

I'm guessing that they didn't change the style of connectors until sometime after the start of 1994 model production. I picked up a pod setup with the shift/TC/Ride controls from a 1994 SSEi, and didn't think of it until I got home that it had a pigtail harness. :?
The mid/late 1994-1999 has no pigtail harness from the button pod.
So did I get a hybrid pod?
BTW, 1993SLE -the 1994+ have more wires due to the CCR, which wasn't available in 1993.
I'll try to post pics of what I've got here. Nothing super special because one of the buttons is defunct and one of the indicator light covers is MIA.

right i think tha the 4 prong harness that JR's has is for the CCR. But yes the connector changed i think mid year. I have a Perf/normal and TC button in my car now, and all 8 slots are filled as apposed to the Picture...that is only the TC only

BillBoost37 04-30-2005 10:13 PM

I've got a few pods here and 4 wire is definatley the performance ride, 8 is the TC and granny or performance shifting.

actually Bill when you are in performance shift the car shifts at points where a car without the pod would...in other words when you are in normal shift the car is actually shifting at a way lower point. the Perfromance button should be called normal and the Normal Button economy

IamMrHart2u 05-01-2005 06:38 AM

my harness only has 5 wires, and theres only 1 harness, Im gonna have to get one of those pods

BillBoost37 05-01-2005 08:58 AM

Your harness only has 5 wires. But is that 5 wires only in a connector that can hold 8 possible wires?

Interesting on the shifiting points. I must be driving good lately because I really didn't notice any difference in the two different modes.

your olny wired for TC then, but i doubt that the TC will work if you put a button in. you need the EBTCM module

what? you gotta be kidding me, what is the that? and where would I find it? the connector itself does have a total of 8 holes, but only 5 have wires

OLBlueEyesBonne 05-01-2005 12:59 PM

If anyone wants a 1994-1999 TC only pod I have one -$20 shipped.

IamMrHart2u 05-01-2005 07:21 PM

I want it but I'm gonna have to wait, bills suck, I'm curious to see if just pluging it in will work
