on my screwy "engine temps"
also some other problems

i had used an infared temp. scanner to read the approximate engine temperatures, and it was nowhere near the 280 the gauge said. well today i got a scanner on it, and found out a few things. First off, the gauge is wrong as i suspected.
what seems to be happening, is that the gauge IS reading in parallel with the real temps, but just way high. but only to a certain point.. then when it redlines, it may immediately fall back down to normal, or it may stay spiked for a while. either way, i verified that the sensor is good and the computer is reading it correctly, and that the gauge is just bad.
So, now i have a couple options. i can replace the dash cluster. is this a lot of work?
or, i can run an aftermarket sensor up onto the dash somewhere (does anyone even make these?)

Also, i had no KR when i floored it in second, but i still need to do a full run.
this is an OBD-I car, and i could not read timing. is this possible? it worked fine on the OBD-II impala. there are a lot of things i don't know how to use

there is a block learn, which was a 147. the way i read it is that if the number is over 128, fuel is being added to the engine to compensate for a lean condition. if below 128, fuel is being taken away to compensate for a rich condition. THEN, there was another "rich/lean" flag, and this said that the engine was running rich. why is it adding fuel, compensating for a lean condition if the engine is rich?

also, the A/C clutch is always disengaged, even when i turn AC on. the AC has always blown, but never been cold. i assumed it needed a recharge, but didn't care.. (MN weather ) and the fans do not engage even when i turn the AC on. could these 2 issues be related?

there are two sensors. you probably dont need to touch the cluster.

the one directly under the tb is for the computer. there is one behind that one. closer to cyl #6 int port.

the yellow is the sensor that feeds to the pcm. the green is for the gauge. thats only a 10 dollar part. i would try that first.

i was told that on the 95, there is only one temp. sensor. was the dealer wrong about this? are the sensors the same?

ya know, im sorry, i forget that most of the 95 na 3800 are ser 2. is that what you have? cuz if its an L67, its the same as in the pic i posted.

so if it only has one sensor, and it has been replaced, and the computer is reading it correctly, would you say it'* probably the dash?

that is possible, but what about corrosion on the harness?

which harness? behind the dash, or what?

i would first check the plug into the sensor.

oh and 95 is obd1.5
