What is normal KR?
If there is such a thing.
I have been battling KR for some time now. Almost back to stock until I can figure it out. Romeved the 2.2 pulley, stock plugs, etc. I just replaced all the valve stem seals and thought for sure that I had it due to the intake seal for #1 was in pieces and a couple others were riding high on the stem.
Just went for the test drive and although it does seem to run better, KR is still there. It'* 67* and I am within 1* of ambient temps and I am pulling up to 8* of KR. What next? Or is the amount of KR I am getting considered "normal"?

Any KR is bad. If you are getting real KR that means that there is detonation occuring which is really bad for your engine. If its false the computer is trying to kill the detonation that doesn't exist. Normal KR is 0*. If you have more than 0* you should be doing something about it to get rid of it.

I think it'* fairly safe to say your KR isn't heat related. Can you tell if you're still consuming oil? Have you tried top-end cleaner. Maybe you've got carbon deposits making hot spots.
Just guessing. I have a similar situation, as you know, but haven't checked out the valve seals yet. I'm waiting on a port template before I do a full head swap.

Haven't run any topend cleaner through. I can Seafoam it tomorrow. Maybe dumping a whole can in will clean her out real well! Come to think of it, there was a nice carbin ring around the top of every exhaust valve I didn't seem to be consuming a lot of oil before, about 1/2qt every change. With the condition those seals were in, i am betting that that consumption goes away. I need a boroscope to see what condition the chambers are in.
