What does this mean?
Ok about 3 weeks ago i bought a 1992 SSEI and everything has worked perfect since well yesterday i was driving home from a doctors appointment and everything was fine, i went around a tight curve and let off the gass and the car just like stalled right there, engine turned off , power was still working but the engine just quit, well i pulled off to the side of the road and started her right back up no problem, no service engine lights were on so i thought i was good, well it seems like everytime id let off the gas and apply the brake it would do it again, a total of 3x by the time i got home. What could be wrong, any ideas?

Is this the infamous '92 fuel pump problem I keep hearing about?
|
Were you making a left hand turn? How much fuel in the car?
It could be the fuel pump getting weak or a restricted fuel line, hows the fuel filter? |
No, actually 2 of them were right hand turns, and it was at a quarter of a tank, and i dont know about the fuel filter where do i check that? and if its not that what else can i do? are fuel pumps expensive? it just had a tuneup so it cant be that either

Fuel strainer. Common problem with 92's. Incorrect postioning, or it's too short. Only way to fix it is a new strainer. Do a search and you'll find part numbers.

Yup this is kinda common on 92's. Pretty scary too/ Happened to an SSE I almost bought.

I have the exact same problem on my 93. I can't let the tank fall below 1/2 anymore. And i have a new fuel pump. i can't remember if it came with a new strainer or not....i guess it didn't. But my problem happened all at once--its not like the strainer shrank one day.

hmmmm, i dont have any problems..

The problem can become more apparent as your strainer plugs up with tank crud over time. It may also be worse if your strainer assembly has developed pinhole leaks in the neck area (still inside the tank). Not all the fuel goes out to the filter/fuel rail then. You may be suffering from one of these problems, or more likely, a combination of the two.

er umm is a fuel filter the same as a fuel filter?
