What do I need to check codes on my 94 SSEi
I'm wanting to check the codes on my car and am wondering will an OBD II reader work or will I have to go to the dealer. If I can't get a reader I'm gonna do it the cheap way and get me a digital voltmeter and start testing sensors.

you need a reader that can read OBDI codes and use a OBDII cable

Yep..need one that can read OBD I while using the OBDII connector.
Here is a thread that offers several options: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ghlight=obd+95 |
ok so what would be one to get
I'm looking at the auto xray 2000 will that one work? I want a cheap one if that's possible |
According to the thread above the auto x-ray 2000 will work. I have also heard that you can get the codes read for free at Advance Auto if there is one in your area. We don't have them in Arizona so you may not have them in Wyoming either.
Let some others chime in with their experiences with the different readers for your application or PM some of the members in the other link to ask how they like their code reader. I have the Actron, adn love it, but have not used it to try to read OBD I codes. |
