Default Weak Key Fobs

I've been having a lot of problems lately with my key fobs. I've replaced the batteries three times in three weeks and the situation isn't improving. The one remote only works when you're 1-2 feet away from the car. The other remote is pretty much dead. I found this thread:

In talking with Pat, he hasn't come up with a solution either.

Anyone got some suggestions?

Hmmm the 97 has always given me trouble. 95 will work from miles away in comparison. Dr. Bob had mentioned 97 RAC was a known issue and you could put in a 98 to increase your distance. I haven't found a replacement yet though.

New batteries or not...I also experience limited range, however it'* nothing new

I opened mine up for the 93 and thoroughly cleaned them with electrical contact cleaner. It doubled my range, and I can actually increase the range further by holding the Fob to my jawbone. Your body will act as a TX antenna.

Dr. Bob? RAC? Please define.

Hmm...it just doesn't seem acceptable to me. I could almost watch the problem grow overnight. Literally. The entire system worked very well, now it'* just loped off to next to no functionality. :?

Maybe that'* why my clicker seems to work better from my pocket...

Ya, I've heard of that trick before too. Last night I tried that from being 12 feet away, with fresh batteries and still nothing.

Did you spray the electrical contact cleaner directly on the contacts? Or did you lightly "brush" it on with a Q-tip of sorts?

Pry open the edges (where the crack is) with a screwdriver. Within you'll see the battery and circuit board.
