Reading Codes
I know I've been over this several times but I'm still unclear as to what I need and I'm hoping someone can make it as easy for me to understand.
For the 95 SSEi, to read the DTC (engine light code) do I need an OBD 1 reader with an OBD2 connector? Or is it the other way around.
As for the ABS light, is the dealer the only place to read these codes? I'm trying to avoid the dealer since they charge $100.00 to read any codes. Here in Canada, nobody reads codes for free and no auto shop or store loans them or rents them out.
I would really appreciate any help in finding the right tool and again forgive me for going over this again.
Frank

Yes. I believe your only bet is to go to the dealer for those ABS codes. Sorry!

Does that mean that the one that Drifter has will work?
I've tried in the Canadian BC forum CC, and the only person, that seems to have one that is close by is Drifter. Keep in mind people that Canada has 1- 10th the population that the US has and over a larger area, therefore there aren't as many of us to go around.

But again.. he'* all the way up in my neck of the woods.. ( and last I heard he blew a chip in it 3 weeks ago, I"m assuming he resolved that by now )
Worse comes to worse.. let me know if you have any luck, I can ask IF he would charge to read codes and if so.. how much ( he read mine for free twice.. but thats cause we spend enough money with him.. lmao !! )
(Boost monkey makes as much boost from his butt as his car.. JK.. maybe.. lmao)

People, is there anyone out there that can tell me exactly what type of scanner I need? I'm not looking for a specific model, I was told it wasn't the OBD 1, then I was told it wasn't the OBD II, and again was told it wasn't the OBD 1 with the OBD 11 connector. Then which one is it? Sorry for the tone, but this is frustrating seeing this beauty of a car sitting in the driveway for 4 months.
