Weird Predicament - - Need Help Fixing Now
 

Well here's a funny Predicament I've gotten myself into.
I'm buying some winter rims/tires from a friend of mine, and he threw in a spare tire w/ no rim. I was hauling them home from his house in my bonneville, and i got the 4 rims w/ tires in the back seat and i decided to put the tire in the trunk. Well the tire was just a bit big for my trunk (because of my system) so i had to "convince" the trunk to close.
Now i cannot get my trunk open :?
No matter how much pulling wiggling, pushing, or banging i do. I just cannot get it open.
I know it wasn't a good idea to put it in there in the first place :nono: but i did the idiotic thing and put it in there.

And i can't get to the trunk latch or anything from the back seat, because my system is in the way of the pass-through.

Anyone ever have a situation like this?

I have no idea whats even keeping it closed. The tire is pushing upward so it seems to me like it wouldn't want to stay closed not vise versa.

Seems it should be fine if you just neutralize the pressure on the switch with a little more downward force than up. Otherwise...push and pull it a little.

Sit on the trunk lid, then turn the key.

Yep. There is too much stress on the latch to release. Relieve the stress.

ok just got done tryin that and not even that is working...
I'm a 250lb guy so i'm guessing thats enough weight pushing down but it still is not opening.
I think i f'ed something up :x

Yep...that does appear to be a problem.

If you could get to the latch. You could unbolt it and get it open, right? ;)

This is a bit harsh, but it's time to buy a new tail light. Yup, you heard that right. Tail light. It's the only access point large enough for a hand/arm to gain access to the latch. Personally I'd use my rotozip and cut right through the plastic, cut the backing plastic and then stick an arm in and undo the bolts for the latch. There's two of them. 10mm

Sounds like you've done that before Boosty.
I used to have a problem with a small switch in a CIrrus I once had, things in the trunk would bump the witch making it so you could not open the trunk. Luckily for me my pass though was accessible.

Remove the back seat and pull your sub box out into the car.

I'v popped trunks at the wreckers this way.

I believe the metal supports will be in the way.

The opening is bigger with the cardboard backing out.

The nylon straps may have to be removed or loosened if your car has them.

I've gone in this way on 3 cars now. All 92-99 Bonnevilles.
