Fuel hose connection...
Ok, here'* my issue. I noticed the smell of gas the other day and popped the hood with the car on. Gas was spraying from the fuel hose that runs gas into the fuel rail. Apparently the part has been discontinued from GM so i had to order it from an out of town dealer that luckily had it in stock. My problem is: the old fuel hose has these quick disconnect connections, but the new hose i got only has these simple rubber unions?? They are on the ends of the hose pretty tight so i don't think they will leak, but i'm not so sure how well they will go on the steel ends for the fuel rail at one end and the hard lines at the other end?
Does anyone have any clarification? I'm borrowing a friends car for now so i'm not driving (seems to be a little dangerous driving around with gas leaking all over the engine...) I'm planning on fixing the problem on Saturday morning because i'm giving the car back friday night. I did some searches on the forum, but only found info on replacing the o-rings in the connectors so didn't really help me. Thanks everyone!!

sure thing:
This is the old connection on the car. This is the connection from the fuel hose to the fuel rail (bringing fuel to the engine). It'* like a quick disconnect. There are 2 white tabs on the bottom of the connector that you squeeze together to disconnect it.
The white tape was just to keep the gas from spraying. It just dripped instead...
Sorry about the quality of the picture. It was the best i could get with my camera at night.
This is the new connection end on the new fuel hose.
This is the comparison of the two. Don't be fooled by the size. The new hose is the same size, it was just closer to the camera.
Sorry again for the quality of the pictures. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!!

There is a repair kit available, from Dorman I think, that has a quick connector end that you attach to the press-fit end of that new fuel hose. It should be available at your local Advance or AutoZone. I've not bought one, but I know they exist.

Tough to tell, that hose you have looks like the evap vent hose. Do those actually connect and make a good connection that doesn't shower the area with fuel?

Don (jr's3800) had to do the fix on his '95, using a similar connection, Bill. It seems to be fuel tight so far. It connects to a barbed male end.
I'll try to roust him up and see where exactly he got the repair kit.
< runs off erratically, hoping that nobody will notice he has no earthly idea where he'* going...>

First off is that the entire fuel line? And that does look a lot like an EVAP hose...
The repair kit is a bit of a PITA.... I may try and attempt to get mine a little better..
Here is the deal with the barbed fitting... The New line has to be soaked in pretty much boiling water... At this point its soft enough to install on the fitting( I dropped the fitting in the water too to keep it warm to give me a few seconds to work with it all ) It slips onto the fitting... The hard part is getting the fuel line on there.... The Fuel line will be harder and more difficult to deal with.... The Fuel line is a decent bit flexible until it has seen fuel for a day or 2... Once it sees fuel it will begin to harden..
I have not leaked a drop from the barb fitting.... Its dry as a bone... But my preference is to replace the line from the rail to the fuel filter and that will cost me $94 from GM
