How on earth do I get the Seat Belts off my 1992 SSEI?
Howdy. Got this car a good 8 months ago. Nice car. Quite a few problems. Nothing too serious. Until yesterday.
The female end of my driver'* side seat belt seems to be broken. Once clipped into the button just rattles around, and you need the jaws of life and a lot of tugging to get out of it. I'm not exactly a mechanic, but if I know how the system works, I might be able to replace it with something else. My problem is, I don't know how to get the belt system off/out. I removed one bolt in the back that attached to the floor. My more mechanically inclined father said most seat belt systems attach to the floor. But, it did not free the belt. Do I need to remove the seat to get to it or am I missing something? I did find a bolt that seemed more like it was on the actual arm of the belt system, and I believe my 3/4 ratchet fit it, but there was a lib of metal impeding me. It was also in a very awkward position...
And help for a newbie on something that'* probably simple?

My 92 SSE, the receiver end (console side) was attached to the bottom seat frame on the side thru a "slider" bracket. I would think that a SSEi is the same. So you would have to take the seat out.

Take a look at this write-up: https://www.gmforum.com/performance-137/weight-reduction-tips-racing-seats-281813/
The second half of the write-up covers removing the rear seat and shows the location of the seat belt anchor nuts. It'* not too hard to take apart. (Keep in mind that the car in the pictures is a different year than yours, so it might be different).
Once you have the seat off, you can see the seat belt anchors pretty clearly. You shouldn't have to take the back part of the seat off.
