Default Homebrew exhaust repair possible?

Today on the way to work my exhaust pipe broke lose. The break is about 6-8 inches behind the catalytic converter, about 3 inches in front of the hangar. Is there any way a could fix this myself? The 2 pipes almost line up perfectly and the break appears to be very clean. Ive searched and found some other threads on this, and it looks like I will have to head to the shop, I just want to avoid it if possible due to $$$ reasons. Thanks.

you could easily use a piece of pipe to slip over both ends and clamp both sides...

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking the pipe idea also. Could said pipe be acquired at Auto Zone? I don't have jackstands at the moment so I am wary of crawling under the car to measure but does anyone know what size the OD of the exhaust is?

edit: Although am a huge fan of JB Weld (and I love the testimonials on the back) I don't think it would work for something like this.

Update:

Alright after furthur inspecting the damage, it looked there was one pipe that actually went maybe .5" to 1" inside of another pipe that was welded into the cat. It almost looks like somehow where the pipes separated there was some kind of weld inside?? I don't even know if thats possible.

Anyway what I did was pretty ghetto, and only a temp fix. I took two soda cans and cut off the ends, and made a cut down one side. This gave me to semi circles of aluminum. Each piece went about 90% around the exhaust pipes. I then secured the cans to the exhaust using hose clamps. I gave it a couple of hard shakes to make sure it was secure. I started the engine and it purrs like a kitten again. I will try to drive it in a little bit to see what happens.

edit: added pics

If you are worried about how that looks, you can always attack it with a rattle can of engine paint.
