Default A/C Question

I'm in the middle of an engine swap and have hit a wall... I have a 96 Bonneville SE with a 3800 Series II motor (L-36) Question 1. Is it possible to remove the A/C compressor without opening the system (losing freon)? Question 2. Which bolts have to come off to remove the compressor? Any help would be appreciated!

1. No.
2. I don't know about the 98, but the compressor on the 93 is low on the engine near the front of the car. Pull the bolts out of the brackets holding it to the block. When you raise the engine you may have to slide the compressor out of the way before yanking on the engine like it'* a 300lb trout. Getting the engine back in is a little tricky too because you have to make sure the compressor is in the right location before you set the motor in place - if you don't, you'll have to pull the motor up again to install the AC compressor.

Please continue in your other engine swap topic. Splitting this up doesn't share the whole picture with those that are trying to help you.
