Default 99 not maintaining oil pressure

Hellow fellow Bonneville lovers! I got problems with my engine and would appreciate any help I can get.

I have a 99 Bonneville SE and one night after work deciced to drive around for a while. I live in the middle of no where and work 2 miles from home. It was around 1 am and I turned on a road and floored it and then noticed I didn't have as much power as usual. I was watching my speed and the car would not go over 60mph. I came to a stop sign and as i started to turn the car died. Thankfully, I was only a mile from home.

So, I sat on the side of the road for a while and called someone at my house to come and push my car home with their car. (Where I live you can't just leave your car on the side of the road, because it WILL get vandalized.) By the time my friend showed up my car started. But, once again would not go over 60. As i turned on my block I noticed the temp was at 250 degrees and the oil pressure was in the red zone and then the car died. So, I got pushed the rest of the way down the bock into the drive way.

So, came out next day and started the car after about 5 minutes of ideling, the oil pressure starts to drop. And after a few more minutes it drops all the way down to 0 and the warning bell goes off repeatedly, but the car doesn't die.

I checked my Motortrend program on my computer and it says it is likely that the oil pump is bad, but it also says that if I have no oil pressure then I the check oil light should be on. But, the light is not coming on. And I also hear a ticking sound coming from the engine, which again, is supposed to mean the oil pump is broke.

Funny thing is you can't buy oil pumps for Bonneville'*. I can find only oil pump re-build kits. So, if it is the oil pump, anyone have a clue on how hard it is to re-build the oil pump?

yeah I checked the coolant and it was full. Before this happened I put on a new head gasket set, so naturally had to change oil and filter. I put less than a hundred miles on the car before this happened. And nope, the oil doesn't smell burnt.

I replaced the head gasket because I was losing coolant, but never saw any coolant on the ground. Turned out the coolant was getting in to my intake because a chunk of plastic that was missing. So, I spent $260 on a headgasket set that I didn't need to spend, and ended up paying another $150 for a huge piece of plastic. :(

And that fixed the leaking coolant problem. But, could I be having this new problem because of the previous coolant problem?

There are no sensors to detect what'* happening right now. My best guess at this point would be that your head gaskets have failed again. No insult intended, but that'* the last thing that was worked on, and this is a classic case of loss of compression and oil pressure.

Did you use NEW bolts on the heads? The OEM bolts are torque-to-yield, one time use only.

If your coolant and oil look good, my advice would be to get a compression check on all 6 cylinders. My bet is that 2 of them will be low.

I have nothing significant to contribute, but am curious to how many miles are on the car?
