Default What do these wires do and hmmmm?

I just rplaced my fuel pump....by myself...hehe..not fun! Well evrything is good, but I ran in to a little problem! I went to put everything back and noticed three wires hanging from above my gas tank! the main harness to the gas tank is fine, but the other plug is messed up! what do these wires go to? I need to replace the plug, because the wires will not go back in! I cannot fill my tank fast either, so is it venting? Someone please help me figure out what this is, thanks! My car is running great and no warning lights or anything either!

If they are on the passenger side, my guess in the ELC sensor. And maybe your vent tube got crimped?

Vent tube was replaced and is fine, and also the air pump has not worked for some time. It might be the sensor for that then, and I should not havE A PROBLEM WITH MY TANK THEN! I WILL HAVE TO GET SOME EXTRA TIME TO TRACE THE WIRES AND FIND OUT WHAT THEY LEAD TO! I still can not figure out why the gas will not just flow in the tank like it should maybe I should c0ntact GM if anyone can't help here! The plug in where these wires are is right above the ones that go to the fuel pump...if that helps!

There isn't anything else that plugs into the fuel tank in 97 is there? My guess was ELC sensor wiring because I had to unplug my ELC to get enough slack to maneuver the wiring to get the tank out.

I believe that it is fo the venting system for the tank...not sure though! It is a seperate wiring that goes to the tank, because it was around the tank and is located right above where the plug for main tank harness is located.
