upgrading springs and sways to SSEi
I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the specs to make sure I get all the right parts.
I can get all the rear parts from one person and all the front from another. (different end collisions) How do I make sure I get matching parts? For example: spring rates the same level.? I know the front SSEi sway was 32mm and rear was 22mm(I think, maybe 21) Are there frame mounts for the sways on the front and rear? (I know there are endlinks but those will be energy suspension. I thought I recalled hearing that I have to get the stock sway bar frame mounts or similar. Am I correct? ) How do I make sure I get a matching spring set? what should I have them measure? Thanks in advance :D |
ya as long is you look at the code in the trunk if you can find it you should be fine....if not 100% of the SSEI's will have he correct sways.
i would recommend getting the springs off of the same car. there are 5 different spring rates for each RPO code |

Does it help to say that the rear sways and springs are from a 97 40th SSEi?
the fronts are from a 98 SSEi. is measuring the spring diameter a sure way of telling what springs they are?? Are they the same dia. front and rear? |
There are 5 different spring rates per code, and it's GENERALLY manifested in spring diameter, but you need to measure VERY carefully, preferably with a digital micrometer.
My fronts and rears are different, but are the thickest I've heard of on this forum so far. I measured them drunk one night for jr's3800, but can't find the topic. I think they were 15.5 front and 15.0 rear? Can anyone find the post? And there are two brackets to the frame/body for EACH swaybar. You need them. From the donor car. |

I gotta find that, or go measure it again.

Ummmm....we had greasy fingers and were tanking beers down. Car is in a good spot to re-measure, so I'll bring my calipers and a micrometer home tonight.
