OK Bosch plug went out on me.
My 96 developed an intermitten skip Saturday along with a rotton egg smell out of the exhaust.
Pulled #1 plug and it had black on the side of the platinum insulator. Put my Delco back in #1 and all is running well. Would do the rest but we had a blizzard and its no fun out there. The Delco platinums only had 10k on them when I took them out.
I'm sending the plug to a technician at Bosch for analysis.
Only reason I installed these plugs was because I had them on the shelf and wanted to see if they would improve mileage. And they did.
Anyone else have Bosch fail??
You guys are right on this issue, 3800'* eat Bosch plugs..

My friends car wasn't any better... We never used Bosch again
I think it has a bit to do with the waste spark method as well as the Type II ignition system... But my friend burned them out on a Type I system... So anything goes..
Also we have seen them burned out in the same manner on the HEI system on the Chevy 305 and 350 V8'*

Mine actually lasted about 17,000 miles before they took a crap. I have NGKs in there now. She runs like a champ.
Regarding those Bosch plugs.... Contact Bosch directly. They will give you your money back on the plugs if you still have the receipt. All you have to do is fill out a claim form (from their website) and mail them the plugs and receipt.
I got my money back on those suckers. Felt good to not have wasted the $40.

Delco
The Delco Platinums that came with the car are back in. Lot of life left on them with only 9 or 10k on them. Put them in yesterday soon as the weather broke. Performance is so so. I'll check mpg in the next few weeks.
I'm told they are made by NGK.
Don't think I want to waste time trying to diagnose Bosch'* problem. Only wish I had the receipt.
The SSE is next, maybe I'll put a set of Champion coppers I have in. Nothing but pure performance.

Please..Champiions? Not sure what it is..they've never performed well in anything I tried them in. I consider them a step lower than Bosch...

champions
My neighbor had a set in his Jeep for 92,000 until the coils went out. They were still working good.
I use a hotter heat range and you wouldn't believe the performance.
My Mopars used to love Champions.
Have to pull and re-gap around 30k though.
As for the SE I'm sticking with the Delco'*. I may also try the TR-55'* and see which I like best.
As for Bosch.....Goodby.
