Default Swapping Magnavox for Delco Ign.

I'm just wondering what is involved in doing this swap and about how much it will cost. I have a very slight surge when in 3rd gear going about 40-45 with slight throttle input. I'm assuming this is an ignition related problem since most posts I read about surging are. My plugs are new with about 8K on them. The car had Beldin wires on it when I got it over a year ago and I havent touched them. Will going to the Delco system and new wires solve my problem?

There are many possible causes of the problem you are having. It is likely that swapping the ignition will help or cure the problem. We have no way to say it'* a definate though.

You might have a weak or intermittent short in a wire, or a fouled plug. Or the wrong plugs. It could also be your ICM and coil pack.

The Delco upgrade won't hurt you, and has other benefits, so it'* a natural first-step for a pesky ignition problem. I'd say go for it, but don't rule out a plug or wire.

What is involved in doing this swap? I would like to do it even if it doesnt solve my problem, just to have a better system. Is it just a direct bolt on of the coil packs, or do I have to get a new ICM too?

You need both ICM and coil packs

This should help. I did it to a "c" engine, but everything involved should be the same.

did it to my C motor. took the whole coil and ICM out of a 94 at the yard.
Its a direct bolt on if you get the complete assembly.
