Twilight Sentinel

What exactly does the twilight sentinel do? Is it just to determine how long your headlights stay on after exiting the car? Does it control when the headlights come on due to outside darkness? :?

Yes and yes.

Delirious0413 Dec 3, 2002 05:34 PM

yup, i just found that out on mine like 2 months ago. it's really nice not to have to worry about leaving the lights on when i leave the car. they turn on and off depending on how dark it is outside.

I thought that it was how long the lights stayed on after getting out of the car for say opening your door on the house, or lighting your way until at your destination?

Am I wrong? I seem to be able to adjust the time that they stay on......or is this just a part of it?

It'll turn them on for you, too.

me too!

will this tight little feature be on my '97 ssei too? :| i hope so. i think i'll be picking it up this weekend! yay! :flashbounce:

Pontiac1983 Dec 3, 2002 09:08 PM

I know its on 98 ssei's. should be on the 97

willwren Dec 3, 2002 09:23 PM

Hell, it's on my 93 SSEi and JSeabert's 93 SSE. It better be on a 97 or 98! Just look for the little tiny 'dome' sensor on the middle of the dash. About the size of a fingertip.

Ya, I really dont like that thing. Sometimes, the lights don't go off ever, so I have to turn it till it clicks to shut it off. Also, if I leave it in the OFF position when I start the car, I can control the lights manually.

Pontiac1983 Dec 3, 2002 09:43 PM

you can control the delay of when the lights go off after you turn the ignition off. the little handle of the back of the knob turns and that sets the timing. It can stay on for a max of 3 min after the car was turned off.
