HI, I will add more detail to my issue, i apologize for not doing so in the beginning.
My doors all lock, all 4, no problems. However the unlock does not work at all, not even a click. I know all door lock motros are good, as all four lock. It seems like the doors are simply not getting the unlock signal from the relay?
I read a wiring digram in my hanes manual ( i find these manual skimpy ) but it shows that the lock and unlock relays are seprate. It does not however show where they are located so i can check.
Can anyone suggest if this is the relay, and if so where i can look. MY hunch was they were seperate but identical relays, and perhaps switching them would cause unlocking but no locking and i could isolate my issue.
Someone else suggested the selenoid, but i thought that was only used to send an electronic signal to the power locks when the doors are locked or unlocked manually, and in this case the unlock does not work from the door tumbler, button, or keyless.

Any help great apprecaited.

You need to say what year, model and trim level your car is for people to help. Most put that info in their signature.

how do I know which trim level I have?

What does it say on the side of the car?

Yeah, you're right, '92 SE is good enough. But we DO need that much!

The reason I ask is, I have a factory service manual for '92 SSE, SSEi, and it has wiring diagrams that will probably help. I'm guessing the wiring for the door locks will be the same as the SE, since they are the same model year (but you can't really be sure) I'll take a look for you in the morning.

thank you, that would be awesome, another post in the electrical section indicated they are under the dash on the passenger side. I am going to check that out tonight. I have the hanes manaual, which has great wiring diagrams, but doesnt give the location of a thing :(

OK, according to my FSM for the '92 SSE and SSEi, the unlock and lock relays are combined in a single unit called the "door lock relay assembly" I'm not exactly sure which diagnostic to use because the manual has separate sections for w and w/o keyless entry. But your problem seems to be addressed here. Anyway, here is the procedure for checking the relay:

actually i got this problem once on my 96, it was just a fuse. what happened was i was installing a new power antennae and a fuse blew and it was tied in with the trunk release, the car doesnt lock the trunk thats automatic but it does open it with the unlock system and with the turnk not detected it didnt do any of it, i would check your fuses even nonrelated ones just to be sure.

You are right, Nerv, it is best to check the simple stuff first.

The wiring diagram for remote keyless entry includes the following fuses/relays/circuit breakers :

30 amp circuit breaker 4(lower of 2 30 amp breakers) in I/P fuse block -- feeds door lock relay ***'y--or/blk

15 amp fuse 3 (top row of fuses, third from left) in the relay center --feeds front door lock switches and LH front door isolation relay--orange

LH front door isolation relay in the relay center (top left in group of 8 relays)-- feeds all door lock motors

40 amp fuse 3 in LH underhood fuse block --theft deterrent
15 amp fuse 6 in I/P fuse block--feeds remote accessory control module
20 amp fuse 4 relay center-- feeds trunk release relay

Hi Bill, thanks for the wiring diagram. I worked throught the troubleshooting that you sent, and it the test lamp lit for all instances. I am pulling all the relays and having them tested this week, as I cannot find out for sure which relay is for the unlock function.
I wanted to ask however, do you have anything in that factory manual about the instrument cluster in the dash. I have an issue with mine flickering, I have taken it apart and cleaned all the connections per an article i found on here, however it continues. I have an electrnoics expert looking at it. However he asked if I could get my hands on any schemenatics or diagrams for it, I thought perhaps you might be able to help me out.
Anything is greatly appreciated.
