Transmission questions

I was told by BillBoost37 to check out the modulator valve on the tranmission to see if it could be bad or the vacuum lines going to it could be cracked.
I just checked it on the autozone website and it appears to be under the car back by the transmission mount.
I am also trying to figure out when you are standing at the front of the car, looking down at the tranmission on the drivers side, There is also a round looking part that is hooked to the transmission. Could someone give me an idea as to what that is.
Just trying to eliminate possible shifting problems.
When you first get into the car, in the morning, or if it has been sitting for a while, it shifts real fast, through all four gears and then smoothes out.
Had the fluid flushed, Going to change the filter, get a new modulator valve, And then if I need to get the part in question, I will do that also :nm :nm :nm
Thanks guys.

In the image below, you will see the modulator in the upper right hand corner of this transmission. When looking for it in your car, it is going to be right under your airbox.
Hope this helps.

The modulator is like Mike mentions...and the part you are asking about. It's the round thing right there on the front of the trans.

Yes the modulator is at the top of the picture. But if you was to lay that transmission down, like it is in the car, There is a round part in the opening on the drivers side. Can you tell me what that is?
It is round and saucer shaped. Also, where is the shift solenoids. I am assuming that the picture above is the bottom of the transmission with the pan off. They are under the pan, is that correct.
Thanks.

Good thing I kept these pictures...

There is a round part in the opening on the drivers side..
On this next photo, could you maybe show us where you are talking about?

As far as the solenoids, they can be found here....

No, the shift solenoids are in the side pan. Pretty much have to drop the trans and remove the drivers side driveshaft to take the cover off.

The round saucer-shaped thing is a replacement modulator.
