Transmission problems?

Have you experienced any problems?

94 n/a @ 104K, it seems to shudder in first gear right before shifting and proceeds to go in quite hard into 2nd but the rest of it is still very smooth as well as 2-3 and 3-OD. There are minor shudders in the car at lower RPMS but I think it is caused by other factors.

The reason I got my bonne for free was because the differential was shattered out of the end of the tranny and took the casing with it. That's what happens when you do too many one wheel wonder burn outs,

Mine works.. but I'm not sure how well, or for how long. I'm not too worried, either.. I'll know when it goes out. And that is when the fun will begin

What if it goes out when you are sneaking out? lol

opensourceguy 12-05-2004 08:14 PM

It did the last time . It probably will, but if it does.. as long as my mom's boyfriend finds me first. He likes me, and will protect me :)

"Never had any problems - works good."

Probably 'cause it's an OLDSMOBILE!

But all seriousness aside. I've been changing the xmission oil and filter every year for the past 4 years that I've owned this car. It's cheap insurance and it's one less thing that I worry about. Oh, and I don't do the "Flush" thing, although it's is probably arguably better. I just do the "drop the pan" routine.

opensourceguy 12-06-2004 09:10 PM

If the fluid is a nice, sexy red, dropping the pan is all you need. But if it isn't, or you didn't do the last flush [or don't remember], doing a full flush is recommended, IMO.
