well being the crazy person that i am i thought i would get another larger capacity cooler to throw on the bonneville since the small one i had on there (that's fit for like a neon or civic or something) was providing abysmal results.

so i went and bought the largest size one and now i have 3 coolers running in series. radiator --> small cooler --> big cooler. you can *feel* the difference with your hands... the supply pipe could almost burn your hand while the return pipe would just be slightly uncomfortably warm. the transmission noticeably shifts better and that TCC slip thing i had mentioned before seems to be gone.

although....this is a little overkill. ;)

i have both coolers situated in front of the fans (in between the condenser coil and radiator) so if i desire extra cooling i can just turn on the A/C which will bump up the fans an additional speed.

i didn't even have to really mount the large cooler since it just rests on the bottom tray and is the perfect size to fully expose itself in front of the fan. the small one is held on by a quick-tie thing.

i'll keep everyone posted to see if the TCC shake comes back.

So REALLY....what's the best place to put an additional tranny cooler? In front of the little puny one, or next to it on the driver's side of the radiator?

Mine is a Heavy-Duty solid Steel one that I got from Advance Auto Parts. Cost roughly $60. I also have it running in conjunction with the factory cooler in the radiator (after it actually). Here is a pic of where I mounted mine:

Is there a tranny cooler you guys can recommend ( that I can get in Canada..if that matters ) that will work for my 97 SSEI... I"m not looking for the ones that goes in front of the engines radiator.. ( it seems defeating to block one rad for another.. kinda like stealing from Paul to pay Peter ).. but something smaller or wider that I can mount beside or underneath.. ( Hopefully close enough that I can duct another dryer duct to force more cool air on it. ...:wink:

Ok, I already have the stock small one in that location. I'm torn between adding one to the side, replacing it with a bigger one, or 'stacking' another in front of the existing one. Anyone done this on a Bonnie with a STOCK cooler already installed?

mine's behind the condenser. i figured it didn't matter because the condenser coil doesn't get noticeably hot anyway.

B&M has a tranny cooler with a thermostat in it to make sure that the proper amount of fluid is being run through the cooler.

They also have a kit for a remote spin on filter for the tranny. You could mount a heat sink on the filter for more cooling althought that might be excessive.

Ok, I changed to a 180 stat and added the best tranny cooler I could find to the front of the factory cooler. What a difference 60 bucks makes! This sucker used to run HOT :oops:

Everyone, especially the SC guys should do this. I'm definitely gonna duct some cooling air over the top of the SC. I tripled the intake surface area on my CAI last night at work, and saw a noticeable increase in boost.....it buries the needle now, with no pulley changes. I'm running out of cheap things to do now, except my water injection theory.
