Transmission clunk during acceleration

I've noticed ever since I bought this car about a year ago that just about every time I pull away (like at a stop sign or red light) there is this one, and only ONE, clunk sounds that occurs, and then I continue to accelerate. For instance, I'll press the gas and accelerate for a split second, then the clunk, then I'll continue accelerating (no pause in acceleration when the clunk occurs, though). It's also much more pronounced if I do a quick "from-reverse-into-drive-then-go" maneuver (if you know what I mean). The transmission works great so I'm not sure what to think. I'm having a hard time describing this so if you need any clarification, feel free to ask.

maybe dumb but possibly bad motor mount?

Danthurs 04-16-2009 07:10 AM

Sounds like a bad mount. Check the mount on the front left side of the engine.

After more research it's definitely the motor mount. The title of this thread is sort of misleading now.

happening to me as well but feels like the tranny's doing the clunk after accelerating from a red light, doesnt clunk when shifting gears only Sometimes when accelerating

Well. It's not the mounts, they all just got replaced (or checked).

CV shaft keeps popping into my head for some reason.

That's exactly what I'm getting. The harder I accelerate off the line the more likely it is to happen.
