tranny worries!!!!!! need tips
 

I have a concern about my 94 SE. when on the highway and going up a hill I noticed my tranny stays in overdrive! and that is just trying to maintain a speed!!! but the reall worry is that it makes a weird noise like a werring noise and I feel it throughout the whole car! that is #1. #2 is I get a intermittent clunk from the front end of the car and feel it in the floor! mostly when driving around the 0-60 km/h range! please tell me it is an small thing and not a pocket killer!!!!

sounds like a torque converter is staying locked/engaged.. take ur foot of the gas, and let the torque converter relax for a second so it doesn't BANG when it drops the gear. it'll act normally, but the harder you press the gas - the more damage you're doing... just let off, and let it shift.

and, round town, don't leave the thing in overdrive!


also, for others reading this thread, my tranny slips when its first started - but SHREDS the tires, 1st and 2nd, shortly thereafter... my 92 88 did the same thing for years, it worsened, until it finally stopped moving at 230k.. is there any hope for prolonging my tranny? some kind of service/filter i can do?
