Check car-part.com for availablility and for compatibility of different trannies for your car. My advice is to get a tranny with the same model no and type as the one currently in your car. The model is shown as the big characters on the right side of the metal ID tag on the back of the trans. Both Chilton's and the FSM show how to decode the tags.

i already got one but every place i called said that 1994 and 1994 only will work[/quote]
You mean you already got a trans? Is it the same model? |
Ok...
I agree that you will want a 94... and you will want one with the same tag as you have... I'm wondering what gear ratio they sold you... 2.84 or 3.06 comes to mind... as of now the only reccomendation I have for you is to pull the flywheel and replace the Rear main seal on the engine as well as the transmissions front pump seal ( front Seal ) or whatever thay call it... This will save you headaches down the road.. Hope the trans works out Joe.. Good Luck  __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

what suck is that the tranny the came out looks to be rebuilt not that long ago i have bought a 3.06 gear ratio in the FSM i decoded it
|
Glad you got the right one...
4000 Rpms can do some damage at a dead stop... Imagine 0 ft lbs and then all of the sudden 225 ft lbs... Its like the tranny hit a brick wall, instant 225 ft lbs of torque sitting still... I can only imagine the sound that thing made... Let us know how the install goes... And make sure you replace that rear main seal and the trans front pump seal... Good Luck  __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
